Indian Team Won 14 Medals at International Earth Science Olympiad 2022
The team of Indian school students won- four gold, four silver, and six bronze medals at the International Earth Science Olympiad 2022. The Ministry of Earth Sciences funded the programme and was organized by the Geological Society of India (GSI), Bengaluru as a capacity-building initiative for school students.

The team of Indian school students won- four gold, four silver, and six bronze medals at the International Earth Science Olympiad 2022. The olympiad was carried out in Aosta Valley in Italy. According to a press release, around 200 students from 38 countries attended the competition virtually (online-based).
The medal-winning Indian school students were Bhanav, Namboodri (Kerala), Kyishnog Bharali Das (Tamil Nadu), Abhijay Singh Khehra (Punjab), Sonit Sisolekar (Maharashtra), Jaagrit Gaur (Chandigarh), Arush Chaudhary (Rajasthan), and Siddhangana Sahoo (Odisha).
The Ministry of Earth Sciences funded the programme and was organized by the Geological Society of India (GSI), Bengaluru as a capacity-building initiative for school students. In International Earth Science Olympiad 2022, the Indian team won four gold, four silver, and six bronze medals in the questionings, which made everyone proud.
The Indian team of eight students was chosen after two stages of stringent screening. The first was an all-India written test carried out by approximately 3,000 students. The second selection was from a two-week training programme organized by GSI Bengaluru and conducted by well-known scientists of the country.
Hema Achyuthan of Anna University in Chennai and K S Godhavari of GSI Bangalore were the mentors of the programme. Observers or spectators were R Bhaskar from IGNOU, New Delhi, and Mithila Verma from the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
