According to the statement, the collaboration between JMI and ISB aims at working forest dwellers and local communities. It seeks to “promote academic and knowledge collaboration” via “constructing a scalable and sustainable forest economy and livelihood, with a particular focus on Community Forest Resource Rights (CFR) and women-run enterprises.

According to the report, the collaboration began from the MA Development Communication 2023 cohort. The orientation programme of this course was carried out on May 15, 2023, at mir anees hall at Jamia Millia Islamia.

As per the official statement, the cooperation includes academic and research collaboration in which students will acquire access to “resources, including faculty expertise, industry partnerships, and cutting-edge research facilities,” via which students will get a “more in-depth understanding of the forest economy and conceive effective communication methods to engage with stakeholders at different levels”.

The event will begin with a six-day long workshop, after which students will actively participate in field experience. They will “indulge in comprehensive research, capacity building, documentary production, training, and advocacy campaigns concentrated on forest rights and the economy” in Malkangiri forest. Students will achieve the experience of working in forest opportunities like outcomes, historical perspectives, systems, and interactions on forest rights in India. The programme faculty will join after one week after the beginning of MA Development Communications.
