MAHE Students Awarded Global COVID-19 Challenge Prize

The students of MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology) under Manipal Academy of Higher Education won the global challenge of 'COVID-19 Challenge: India Turning The Tide' which was conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.



The event was conducted virtually and was a 48-hour event which was conducted from 28 August to 30 August 2020. The challenge comprised of tracks from A to J i.e. 10 tracks and the students from Manipal Institute of Technology scored track H: Providing Mental Health Support Resources.



The team named 'CrossLives' landed the prize for their finding on an ubiquitary cross-communication platform which will aim at providing better mental health support by eliminating the language hurdle in telehealth. The winners will be awarded the cash prize of USD 500 along with resources and support to fulfill the idea.



The winning team includes Ananya Thapliyal of IT and Meghna Rao of EEE: Backend Developers; Dwitrisha Saha of IT and Simran Saluja of IT: Frontend Developers; Dhruva B Bhat of EEE: AI Developer; Pratyaksh Gupta of EEE: IOT Developer; and Vishesh Ghorawat of EEE; App Developer.



The Director of MIT, MAHE Dr. Srikanth Rao congratulated the team on their achievement and said, "We are delighted to see our young sophomores bring out the best of innovative ideas and win this prestigious global competition. We hope the idea gets implemented to help everyone around us".
