On the occasion of the International Youth Day 2021, Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, announced the National Youth Awards 2017-18 and 2018-19 awardees. The ceremony was organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

A total of 22 awardees were honoured in individual and organizations categories.

A 04-member committee headed by the Secretary of Youth Affairs carefully scrutinises the applications. For both the years, a total of 1022 applications were received by the department.

The award comprises a certificate, a medal, and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000/- to individuals and Rs. 3,00,000/- to organizations.

National Youth Awards: Every year, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports releases the notification to present the National Youth Award. The Award is conferred for excellent youth service in social work and different regions of development activities.

The aim of the National Youth Award is to encourage young people to develop and promote the sense of responsibility towards the community.

Candidates between 15 years to 29 years of age who have done some exceptional social work are eligible for the National Youth Award.

The screening committee goes through all the applications and suggests the names for the scrutinization to the selection committee to make the final selection.
