In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea opposing the DMK's movement in Tamil Nadu. This movement aimed at eliminating the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions on a national scale.
Under the leadership of Justices Surya Kant and KV Viswanathan, the apex court upheld the continuation of pan-India competitive exams, including NEET.
The plea seeking to halt these initiatives within Tamil Nadu's educational institutions was duly dismissed by the bench.
Justice Kant highlighted the current generation's well-informed nature, stating their understanding of the objectives driving these campaigns.
The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu initiated a campaign last October, striving to collect 50 lakh signatures in 50 days to support the elimination of NEET. The court's decision permits the continuation of this ongoing campaign.
