Adding a touch of cultural grandeur to the G20 finance ministers' cultural dinner, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Gandhinagar, located in Gujarat, is set to organize a captivating fashion show. This spectacular showcase draws inspiration from the ancient wisdom of 'panchtatva'—the five elements—symbolizing the interconnectedness and harmony of all living and non-living entities. The event aims to introduce world leaders attending the G20 summit to India's vibrant fashion industry and rich cultural heritage.
The faculty members and students of NIFT Gandhinagar have planned and executed every aspect of this grand occasion, aligning with the 'Mission LiFE' vision championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. By providing a global platform to display the country's traditional crafts, the event showcases the profound respect and reverence that Indian scriptures, from the Rig Veda to the Ramcharitmanas, hold for the five elements: wind, fire, earth, water, and sky.
The director of NIFT Gandhinagar, Sameer Sood, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating that each of the five sequences in the fashion show represents one of the elements. The showcase not only highlights the artistic brilliance of indigenous traditional artisanal craftsmanship but also promotes unity through skillful and mindful actions.
Esteemed Indian designers Ritu Beri, Anju Modi, and Payal Jain have collaborated with NIFT Gandhinagar to design and present three of the five sequences, adding their creative prowess to this extraordinary spectacle.
Gandhinagar, the host city, will welcome the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors on July 17-18. With 66 delegations expected to participate, the meeting will delve into discussions regarding the global economy and international financial architecture. These events serve as a significant component of India's G20 presidency, showcasing the nation's cultural richness and providing an immersive experience for esteemed dignitaries.
