On the occasion of Teacher's Day, President Ram Nath Kovind accorded the National Teachers' Award to 47 teachers from across the nation for their learning techniques and innovative method of teaching. The awards were awarded to teachers on Teacher's Day to honour their contribution and commitment to improve the quality of education and to improve the lives of students.

The President, at the ceremony which was organized virtually, said, "Good buildings, expensive equipment or facilities do not make a good school but teachers have a crucial role in building a good school. They are the ones who develop foundation of knowledge and character building in our students".

For the awards, the self-nominations were invited by the Ministry of Education through the online portal. The initial level perusal had been done by DSC (District Selection Committee) headed by District Education Officer. They shortlisted three names that were sent via online portal to the State Selection Committee. This year due to the corona pandemic the teachers emerged through video conference for presentations.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Education Minister, also attended the ceremony and wished the awardees for efforts.
