NEBHE (The New England Board of Higher Education) and BHEF (Business-Higher Education Forum) joined hands with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community and the Connecticut Office of workforce strategy. As a piece of inventiveness to boost the competitiveness of the state's post-secondary and reach growing business demand for tech skills, they granted contributions to seven business-higher education partnerships in Connecticut.



On July 15, At Connecticut's public and private colleges and universities, Governor Ned Lamont declared the invention of seven new education programs related to technology.



Seven Tech Talent Universities and their focus areas:





  • The University of Bridgeport: The university aims to provide a course in information security and cybersecurity tailored to businesses in Southwest Connecticut's finance as well as tech sectors.




  • The University of Hartford: The university is launching a revved software development course for mobile apps modified for prominent businesses in the Greater Hartford location supported by global tech firm- Infosys.




  • Mitchell College: The college will invent an accelerated track for cybersecurity skills tailored to the cutting-edge defense sector and manufacturing.




  • Quinnipiac University: The university is focusing on launching a cutting-edge cybersecurity badging program customized to endeavor partners in finance, healthcare, and tech in southern and central Connecticut.




  • The University of New Haven: The University will create an entrenched game design and simulation development program forcing mastery in virtual reality in partnering with Pleiadian, SphereGen, and Arsome.




  • Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU): CSCU is pointing to establishing a determined community of approach to uniting with business firms through the Southwest Connecticut Tech Partnership and Capital Area Tech Partnership.




  • The University of Saint Joseph: The University will step forward to create a degree specialization in data analytics in order to meet the regional needs of Greater Hartford employers endorsed by global tech firm CGI.





Connecticut Tech Talent Fund, administered by the Connecticut Department of Community and Economic Development, funded the enterprise- Tech Talent Fund. The main focus was to end the skills gap through high-performing partnerships between business and higher education in originating high-demand technical skills in areas such as software development, digital analytics, virtual modeling, and cybersecurity which are essential to business expansion in the state.



Governor Lamont stated that bringing their educators to the same table as their businesses have been a priority of their administration since day one. He also commented that having businesses fluent in what kind of skills are needed and working with the best educational institutes in Connecticut to develop new programs that put people in high-quality careers is how they are building a nation-leading workforce.



Dr. Kelli Vallieres, the chief workforce officer of the state of Connecticut, remarked that the Governors Workforce Council and Connecticut Office of Workforce Strategy constructed regional sector collaborations in the state consisting of top employers articulating and aligning on the skills they need to fill their highest-demand talent.



The President of the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges, Jen Widness, commented that the independent colleges in Connecticut are enthusiastic to hold up the business community in the state by generating new programs to deliver instruction in high-tech, in-demand skills. Also, he said that they are grateful for the partnership with the state, NEBHE, CSCU, and BHEF in launching the Tech Talent Accelerator initiative.
