According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in 2022, around 1003 Indian students are studying in France presently. This European country owns some of the leading universities. In order to draw the attention of bright students and motivate them to pursue their dreams of higher education, the French government offers various scholarships for Indian or international students. Here is the list mentioned below:





Raman Charpak Fellowship (Ph.D.)



Amount/Expense Covered




  • For Indian students: Fellowship help of 1500 Euros every month for everyday expenses, accommodation charges, local travel, and Social Security charges.

  • For French students: Fellowship help of Rs 40,000 per month for everyday expenses, accommodation charges, and local travel not exceeding Rs 45,000.

  • One airfare ticket in economy class while returning

  • Insurance- (travel and health) wherever needed and Carte de Sejour (if any)

  • The fellowship will provide support for attending conferences, seminars, and workshops during the stay. (applicants must go through guidelines for in-depth details)



Eligibility criteria




  • Indian applicants must be Indian citizens living in India and have registered for a Ph.D. in a recognized Indian research institution or university.

  • The maximum age for the scholarship is 30 years as of 1st April of the call year.

  • France applicants must be living in France and have registered for a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in a recognised research institution or university in France.

  • Students once supported by Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) and those with a permanent standing in institutions or universities are not eligible for the scholarship.

  • Pre-authorization or initial consent from his/her Institute or University in order to apply for a foreign fellowship programme.

LA Femis



Amount or Expense Covered




  • Covers medical/health insurance

  • Allowance of 910 EUR per month

  • Return ticket to France

  • Waives of fees for student visa

  • Service to find accommodation



Eligibility criteria




  • Proficiency in the French Language

  • Applicant must be 27 or 30 years old based on application time.

  • Applicant must have completed two years of tertiary studies or the equivalent of a baccalaureate.

  • 4 years of some professional activity

The Erasmus Plus Mobility Scholarships for Foreign Students



Amount or Expense Covered




  • The scholarship covers living and accommodation costs.

  • Offer mobility scholarship programme for entry and exit in France.



Eligibility criteria




  • Achieved Bachelor's degree

  • Presently in the last or final year of the Bachelor's degree programme.

  • Pursue a Masters's degree programme in two separate countries on the eligible list for this scholarship.

The Chaprak Scholarship Programme



Amount or Expense Covered




  • Monthly living costs of up to 700 EUR

  • Waiver of student visa. Studying in France fees

  • Tuition fee waived of over 5000 EUR (Charpak Master), etc.



Eligibility Criteria




  • Candidate must be 30 years old

  • Proof of Indian National (Adhaar card, Pan card, etc.)

  • Applicant must be studied in an Indian institute.

Eiffel Scholarship Programme of Excellence



Amount or Expense Covered




  • Stipend of 1,181 EUR (Master), 1700 EUR (Doctoral) per month

  • Delivers train travel, international travel, and local transportation facilities.

  • Cover health/medical insurance and reimbursement of supplemental health insurance.

  • Help in finding accommodation and rent costs.



Eligibility criteria




  • Suitable for Non-France applicants

  • Candidate must be 25 years (Master) and 30 years ( Doctoral)

  • Language proficiency
