Tourist and Student visa fees have been raised in the United States
According to the Department of State, student and tourist visa costs in the US will rise.

According to a press release from the US Department of State, "the fee for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2), along with non-petition-based NIVs such as student and trade visitor visas, will increase from $160 to $185 on May 30, 2023." The fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) will rise from $190 to $205.





All fee payments for visa interviews made on or after October 1st of a previous year remain valid for 365 days after the date the invoice is issued. Fees paid by applicants before October 1, 2022, will remain valid until September 30, 2019. To qualify for an interview, applicants must set up an appointment by September 30, 2023, or submit an application for an interview waiver by that date.

To calculate the cost of providing consular services, such as visa services, they use Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodology.

"Visas for work and tourism are vital to President Biden's foreign policy, and international travel plays an important role in the US economy," the statement stated.

The following visa categories will be affected by the increase:

B1: Domestic employee or nanny accompanied by a foreign national employer

H: Work visas B2: Tourism, vacation, and pleasure visitor

L: Internal transferee

O: A foreign national of exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics.

P: Performer, artist, or entertainer

Q: Who is the international cultural exchange visitor?

R: Religious employee
