According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), schools and higher educational institutions across the nation will conduct and organise special programmes on G20 themes under the ambit of India's Presidency commencing this month until September.

With the expectation that India's G20 Presidency should connect every student across the nation, an innovative outreach programme, University Connect, has also been suggested, in which the institutes can involve their students in events on G20 themes distributed across the year.

UGC chairman professor M. Jagadesh Kumar stated that the programme aims at projecting the youth as cultural ambassadors who can create long-lasting relationships with the G20 fraternity.

He said this would be a golden opportunity for young Indians to bring new concepts and perspectives to G20-related topics.

In a letter, UGC also requested the institutes and varsities to begin an action plan and initiate appropriate activities and ensure dissemination of the problems under India's G20 Presidency across different locales.

According to the commission, pre-scheduled events of institutes, such as annual days, convocation events, and sporting events, should be branded as G20 events.

Posters, logos, and standees of G20 should be demonstrated on the campus and at all institute events.

Special events, including quizzes, seminars, painting, crossword, marathon, Insta-Reel, declamation, cycling marathon, and other contests, can also be carried out on G20-related themes at the institute and state levels with a grand finale in the month of September at the national level.

Resource & Information Centre for Developing Countries (RIS) is scheduling seminars at 75 universities.

All institutions/varsities will also undertake Swachchta Campaigns in and around their campuses as part of the G20 event.

G20 branded t-shirts, wristbands, caps, and badges can be allocated to participating students and NYKS, and NSS volunteers.

Institutions may guarantee maximum community participation in these G20 events.
