Union Education Minister Inaugurated IInvenTiv at IIT Delhi

On Friday, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development, inaugurated IInventiV, the first all-IIT R&D fair at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi).



Dharmendra Pradhan said the IITs today have become instruments of transformation. IITs are repositories of experience, knowledge, and a bridge to the future. He added that covid-19 pandemic had shown us the influence of what happens when technology-driven research devotes itself to the service of the human race.



The Union Minister said whether it is the production and development of Indian vaccines within a short period, it has all been achievable because of brilliant minds like yours. These are the indications of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, and we have to inspire the relationship of academic R&D- new technology- industry- society to take research and invention to the peak so that no one is left behind.



He said Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have to move beyond being just engineering colleges. Union Minister added that we should stop benchmarking IITs based on placement packages. They should redefine parameters and benchmark the number of innovations brought into the market and monetized and the number of job opportunities created.



He further said the technology would drive the net phase of growth & development with IT and communication technology among the front runners. The world today will invest more energetically in India. The Indian talent, market size, growing aspiration, digital-first attitude, and emerging purchasing power is all-ready to take India forward at an exceptional speed and scale. IITs should grab this golden opportunity. In the end, Pradhan said the IInvenTiv would be the beginning of a revolution and emerge as a critical forum that would offer solutions to complex global problems.



Later the Ministry of Education said the R&D fair- IInvenTiv, is being conducted to remember and celebrate the 75th year of India's Independence in cord with the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. It has brought more than 300 representatives from the industry. Around 75 projects and six showcase projects are there on different themes being displayed at the event. These projects are lined up with the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat, digital India, and Make in India.
