The official said Panchang is the annual collection of planetary moments. In other terms, Panchanga means the day, nakshatra (star), tithi, yoga, and Karana every day. The Panchang was launched yesterday, April 28, 2023.

Niranjan Kumar, Value Addition Courses Committee Chairman, University of Delhi, said Delhi University is launching a Panchang for disseminating ancient Indian knowledge. Considerably more thorough and informative than the Western calendar, the Panchang includes all festivals and other significant dates as well as tithi, vaar, Karan, nakshatra, and yog. He mentioned the Panchang would be a valuable first effort in introducing students to the rich corpus of Indian knowledge tradition.

He added that, unfortunately, it is vanishing from our homes and the minds of the youth. In such a case, the historic centenary almanac will be offered free of cost to every individual arriving on the programme.

In the centenary year of the university, the Value Addition Courses Committee of Delhi University is arranging a programme on ‘Panchang and Indian Knowledge Tradition’ at 3 pm on April 28, 2023, at the Convention Hall of the university campus.
