UP Schools' 10-Day Event To Mark Women's Day

The Director-General of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, Uttar Pradesh has directed all the schools across the state to hold awareness events from Feb 27 to March 08 on 'Gender Equality' to mark International Women's Day as part of the Mission Shakti campaign. The DG has given the directions regarding the event to all basic education officers of all districts of UP.

The Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSA) have also been directed to hold Abhibhavak Chaupals' (Parents' Meet) at schools along with Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas on the day. During the meet, the parents will be encouraged to pledge to send their girl child to school regularly, to provide them an adequate environment at home to study, and to encourage their daughters to chase their dream careers. The parents will also be instructed to inform their children about the govt's helpline numbers.

The Department is also planning to conduct various other events.

Some of the events include a Poster Competition on the theme of child marriage and gender discrimination, street plays by students, and a quiz competition. A rally will also be organized by the school staff and students from Class 06 to Class 08 on March 04 to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene.

A newspaper 'Baal Akhbar' will also be published by the students on March 05 and March 06 and successful women from different streams will also be invited to participate and share their journey and experiences with students. The exhibitions will also be organized on March 07 to display the newspapers, slogans and posters crafted by students.
