Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled the CBSE & the CISCE Class 12 board exams. The exams have been cancelled keeping in mind the safety and security of the students from the COVID pandemic.

PM Modi announced the decision while chairing an important meeting regarding the conduct of Class 12 Board Examinations.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers including Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani, Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, among other senior officials.

Earlier, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was about to announce the final decision but he was admitted to AIIMS following post-COVID issues.

A petition has also been filed by Advocate Mamta Sharma which is scheduled to be heard on June 03. The petition states that the Supreme Court must advise CBSE & CISCE Councils to not conduct the examination.
