Due to the spike in COVID cases, the leading IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) have relaxed their examination norms for the students.

The IIT Kanpur has waivered the two programmes for graduation students out of its 40-45 programmes, informed Director Abhay Karandikar. With this waiver, many students will get their degrees and graduate even if they have a backlog in 1-2 subjects. The waiver for lab courses can also be availed .The institute is also allowing no fail grade, de-register, and course repetion provisions.

The IIT Delhi has allowed students to take the I-grade, an incomplete grade, on the basis of self-certification which will allow them to attempt their examinations at a later period when their physical and mental condition is better. Earlier, the institution had extended the submission deadlines and relaxed the attendance norms. The institute informed that the faculties have also been directed 'to go extra soft' on students. The institute is also allowing students to audit one core course along with elective courses on the basis of their interest. Auditing a course grant allowance to continue that course and its grade will not affect CGPI. However, the students must have a passing grade.
