Manav Bharti University of Solan, Himachal Pradesh has been found to sold 36000 fake degrees across 17 states in the last 11 years. Run by the Manav Bharti Charitable Trust, the institute has issued a total of 41000 degrees out of which only 5000 have been found genuine by the Special Investigating Team which was probing the fake degree case. The trust manages private universities in Himachal Pradesh as well as in Rajasthan.

The extradition process has been started by the police against the Chairman of Trust Raj Kumar Rana, his wife Ashoni Kanwar, and his Children. The ED (Enforcement Directorate) has filed the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) against the family. The fake degree racket was started by Rana in 2009, as informed by the police.

DGP (Director General of Police) Sanjay Kundu informed that 04 police teams were probing the case and 55 hard discs have been recovered out of which 14 have already been examined. The DGP further informed that the university was established under Manav Bharti University (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2009 and the police will now file the FIR against the formation of the University.

The Dharampur police station has already registered a criminal case against the university pertaining to the fake degree scam.
