Madurai Kamaraj University's School of Biological Sciences is inviting applications from interested candidates for a JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) position in SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board) sponsored research project. The application process has started and the last date to apply is Feb 15.

The project, sponsored by SERB, is sanctioned for a duration of 03 years and is based on 'Genome-wide identification and molecular characteristisation of root colonization fitness genes in epiphytic and endo[hytic plant growth promoting fluorescent pseudomonas strains'.

During the fellowship programme, candidates will be granted Rs. 31,000 for first 02 years and Rs. 35,000 for 3rd year including HRA (House Rent Allowance). The eligibility criteria is mentioned below:

  The candidates must have a Master degree (M.Tech/ M.Sc) in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Genomics/ Bioinformatics/ Life Sciences/ Computational Biology with a minimum of 55% marks.

  The candidates must also have qualified national level exams like GATE/ UGC-CSIR-NET, etc.

  The candidates having experience in next-generation sequencing and data analysis, programming skills, linux operating systems, and script-writing (python, perl, etc.) may be desirable.
