The registration process for the students of class 12th for optional exams has been started by the Central Board of School Education. This exam is being conducted for the candidates who wish to improve their marks. The last date for the application process is 22 August.

The private students can apply online from the official website cbse.nic.in whereas the regular students have the option to apply through their schools only.

The date for the exam has not been finalized yet but the exam will be conducted in September month and the schools will be notified regarding the date. The information pertinent to admit cards will also be notified to schools and private candidates will be able to download it from the official website.

The marks of these exams will be considered final for the students who opted for these exams. Schools are also advised to send LOC (List of Candidates) for optional exams via ePareeksha link.

Mr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Examination Controller of CBSE, said, "Students must go through the eligibility and pass criteria as well as curriculum for the year of examination and scheme of studies carefully before filling the form".

The candidates who appeared for the examinations held between 01 July to 15 July can reappear for the optional exam to improve their marks. A consolidated mark-sheet will be issued for these students.
