The academic guidelines for session 2020-21 for the first-year students of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs of universities across the nation have been released by the University Grants Commission. According to the issued guidelines, the universities across the nation would initiate classes from November 01, 2020, for the new session.

The universities have also been directed by UGC to conclude the admission process by November 30, 2020 so that the first-year classes could be started for UG and PG programs at the earliest.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Education Minister, also tweeted on the same subject, "In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the UGC Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the first year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate students of the universities for the session 2020-21.
