Dayaal Kaur, a 04-year old British Sikh girl, has been welcomed into the elite Mensa membership club which is a club of children with high IQ (Intelligence Quotient).

She expressed the eagerness to appear for the Mensa Test which was conducted in online mode due to the ongoing pandemic situation. In this test, she scored an IQ of 145 which places her in the top 01 % of the United Kingdom's population in the category of 'very gifted or highly advanced'.

Residing in Birmingham along with her family, Dayaal Kaur exhibited extraordinary learning abilities from a very early age as she mastered the entire English alphabet when she was 14 years old.

British Mensa's Chief Executive John Stevenage informed, "We are delighted to welcome Dayaal to Mensa, where she joins a community of about 2,000 junior and teen members. Her family can make use of the supportive parents' network that has developed and we hope that as she grows up, Dayaal makes many lifelong friends and experiences some of the many learning and network opportunities that Mensa offers".

Dayaal took the test just before her 4th birthday in October 2020. Expert Lyn Kendall, in her assessment, recommended that Dayaal's 'ability and maturity' showed and made it certain that she should be accelerated beyond her peer group in a classroom setting.

Sarbjit Singh, Dayaal's father and a teacher, recalled the journey that has not been easy for the family as it was a struggle for them to convince local experts to grant access to the 'gifted intelligence programme' within the education system. As her family is celebrating her big achievement, Dayaal's father also exclaimed, "I am so glad we persisted because otherwise Dayaal would have been lost in the system and got frustrated when she didn't feel like she was being challenged enough to learn new things".
