16 Residential Schools for Needy Children Inaugurated by PM Modi in Uttar Pradesh
The Prime Minister commenced the inauguration from Varanasi on September 23, with plans to conduct online interactions with students from various regional headquarters. This initiative aims to give children from government schools a chance to interact with the Prime Minister. The schools have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 1,115 crore.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated 16 residential schools in Uttar Pradesh that aim to provide educational opportunities to needy children in the state. These schools, known as Atal Residential Schools, are part of a pro-rural and pro-poor initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government.
The Prime Minister commenced the inauguration from Varanasi on September 23, with plans to conduct online interactions with students from various regional headquarters. This initiative aims to give children from government schools a chance to interact with the Prime Minister. The schools have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 1,115 crore.
The Atal Residential Schools are established in all 18 divisional headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. They offer free government boarding facilities and quality education to children of laborers and destitute families impacted by COVID-19. The schools provide students with accommodation, meals, educational opportunities, and extracurricular activities.
This initiative aligns with the government's goal to provide equitable access to education for all children, irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, the announcement included plans for constructing a memorial for tribal queen Durgawati at a cost of ?100 crore, further emphasizing the commitment to uplift disadvantaged communities through education and cultural preservation.
The Prime Minister's inauguration of these schools represents a significant step towards ensuring educational opportunities and a brighter future for underprivileged children in Uttar Pradesh.
