From this academic session, it will be compulsory for all students to open an (ABC)- Academic Bank of Credit account at abc.gov.in in order to get admission to universities across the nation. While the procedure of generating ABC IDs is on, many students are facing problems in the Aadhaar verification procedure.

On Tuesday, at a meeting, UGC- University Grants Commission chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar, insisted vice-chancellors of central universities confirm 100% registration on the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) platform from the upcoming academic year.

The ABC platform is a virtual database of credits that stores the academic credits earned by each student individually. As mandated in National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the initiative aims to facilitate credit transfer of students, authorizing them to move across streams and HEIs with ease.

While several VCs informed progress in student enrollment on abc.gov.in, many universities are facing delays due to Aadharcard-related problems. Representatives of the Central University of Kashmir, University of Allahabad, Guru Ghasidas University, Assam University, Central University of Karnataka, Central University of Gujarat, and others mentioned the same problem for slow progress in Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) student login generation.

As per the university heads, the students are not able to register due to Aadharcard not being connected to mobile phones.

Interacting with the VCs, Kumar sought a report on the problems and lag in the registration of students in the Academic Bank of Credit. UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said we are here to listen to any technical issues that universities are facing regarding ABC execution. It is our aim to onboard all students in central universities in the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) platform in the approaching academic year. The students must have a unique ABC unique ID in order to get admission from this year onward.
