On Monday, the Technical Education and Industrial Training Department notified that the affiliation would be cancelled of 07 pharmacy colleges over mass-copying that took place during the exams held in the last two months.
Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary of Technical Education, informed that the answer copies of all the students who took part in the offline examination matched word-by-word. He further added that solved online papers also matched to some degree. The students also chose the same questions to answer during the final year exam.
Detailed reports had been sought from the Industrial Training Secretary and Principal of the Govt. Polytechnic College, Patiala and Punjab State Board of Technical Education because at these institutions the answer sheets were sent for evaluation. Verma said that the reports clarified the mass copying in these 07 pharmacy colleges during the exams from Sept to Oct 2020.
He further added, "Due process has been initiated to cancel the affiliation of the colleges concerned". The directions have already been issued to conduct re-examination as all the exams will be cancelled in these colleges. A show-cause notice will also be issued within a week for cancellation.
These colleges are: Vinayaka College of Pharmacy (Lehargaga), Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Pharmacy (Lehargaga), Vidya Sagar Paramedical College (Lehargaga), Krishna College of Pharmacy (Lehargaga), and Lord Krishna College of Pharmacy (Lehargaga), Aryabhatta College of Pharmacy (Sangrur), Modern College of Pharmacy (Sangrur).
