Education Minister Highlights 31% Surge in Enrollment of Girl Students in Schools

The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighted a substantial 31 percent surge in the enrollment of girl students in schools from 2014-15 to 2021-22. Addressing queries in the Rajya Sabha, he also noted a significant 50 percent rise in the enrollment of female students from Scheduled Castes (SC).



Pradhan attributed these positive trends to various government initiatives spearheaded by Prime Minister Modi. Since the Modi government took charge in 2014, there has been a commendable 26.5 percent increase in overall student enrollment across schools and universities.



Delving into the specifics, the minister emphasized a 44 percent hike in enrollment among Scheduled Caste (SC) students and an impressive 65 percent among Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. Particularly noteworthy was the notable 80 percent surge in enrollment among tribal female students during this period.



Highlighting the impact of the National Education Policy, Pradhan outlined that following the tenure of the Modi government and the policy's implementation, there's been a significant 25-26 percent increase in student enrollment in school and higher education.



The minister stressed the instrumental role of the National Education Policy in charting India's developmental path, envisioning a fully developed nation by 2047, stating a 45 percent growth in enrollment among Muslim girls.



Responding to queries, Pradhan underlined the significance of India's diverse linguistic heritage, affirming the government's commitment to delivering education in native languages.



Pradhan reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts in language promotion, citing initiatives like Kashi-Tamil Sangamam and recognizing the national significance of all Indian languages.
