In a comprehensive initiative for the financial year 2024-25, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has outlined a multifaceted plan to bolster educational facilities in its schools.

As part of this initiative, NDMC aims to distribute 9,000 computer tablets to students in Classes 9 to 12, including Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) and Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) across all schools. This ambitious project builds upon an earlier pilot scheme during the pandemic, where 811 computer tablets were provided to students in Classes 10 and 12.

Additionally, NDMC is committed to upgrading sports infrastructure within its purview. With 14 part-time sports coaches currently employed across eight sports, the council is in the process of hiring 10 more coaches dedicated to table tennis and wrestling. This move aims to provide professional coaching during and after school hours, enhancing the sports training experience.

Furthermore, NDMC is embarking on the installation of synthetic tracks in parks, commencing with a 2.7 km track at Nehru Park. The positive reception to this initiative has spurred plans for a similar 1.3 km track at Sanjay Park in the upcoming fiscal year, focusing on providing a better park experience, particularly for the elderly, while addressing dust-related concerns.

NDMC member Kuljeet Singh Chahal emphasized the council's commitment to achieving Viksit Bharat@2047 by modernizing educational infrastructure and prioritizing green energy initiatives. Notably, a wrestling center is set to be established at the Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya situated on Mandir Marg, furthering the council's efforts in educational and sports development.
