In a ceremony at Guwahati's Veterinary College field, Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, celebrated the academic prowess of 35,770 students by presenting them with scooters under the esteemed Pragyan Bharati scheme. This marked a significant occasion, commemorating the sixth year of this initiative, which honors the legacy of Banikanta Kakati, a luminary in literature and language.



In his address, CM reiterated the government's commitment to fostering education among the youth. The scheme, tailored for students achieving 60% and 75% in the higher secondary examinations of 2023, aimed to facilitate unhampered access to quality education.



In addition to celebrating the students' accomplishments, CM Sarma paid homage to Kakati, recognizing his profound impact on literature, language, and cultural heritage. The government aims to honor and propagate Kakati's enduring legacy by empowering deserving students in their educational endeavors.



Encouraging resilience and determination in the face of challenges, the Chief Minister reiterated the government's steadfast pledge to fortify support for the student community. Plans unveiled an expansion of the Pragyan Bharati scheme, envisaging additional benefits encompassing not only scooters but also textbooks and subsidized hostel fees.



Looking forward to the fiscal year 2023-24, the Assam government aims to extend its outreach, providing scooters to 35,770 eligible students. This remarkable cohort includes 30,203 accomplished young women securing top honors and 5,567 ambitious young men who excelled with an impressive 75% or higher in the Higher Secondary Examinations conducted by AHSEC in 2023.
