The Assam Govt has released the evaluation formula for the students of Class 10 and Class 12 state board. Earlier, the Govt cancelled the exams due to the spike in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ranoj Pegu, the State Education Minister, announced the policy in the presence of the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam), and AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) officials. These boards conduct the exams across the state.

Pegu informed that the students' assessment for both classes would be made on the basis of their performance in the internal assessment and previous exams.

For Class 12 students who have practical exams, 50% of the total marks would be considered from the best three subjects of Class 10, 10% from internal assessment and attendance in Class 11 and Class 12, 30% from Class 12 practical, and the rest 10% will be provided by AHSEC.

The Class 12 students from Commerce and Arts streams who do not have practicals, will get 50% from the best three subjects in Class 10, 40% from internal assessment in Class 11 and Class 12, and 10% will be provided by AHSEC.

The Govt also announced that regular exams will be conducted from Sept 15 for the students who are dissatisfied with their marks or the assessment procedure.

The Govt also announced that there will be no toppers for various streams this year.

For Class 10 board exams, 40% of their marks would be considered from Class 9, 40% on the basis of their assessment in Class 10, and 20% will be granted from the school-based internal assessment.

For schools which did not conduct Class 10 pre-board exams, 70% marks from Class 9 and 30% from their schools on the basis of their previous record of attendance & class tests would be used for evaluation.

The evaluation of students with physical disabilities, who couldn't take part in regular exams during the last year due to any reason, would be done by their respective schools only.

The Govt also informed that these marks of Class 10 and Class 12 this year won’t be considered in case these students decide to attempt later for state government jobs, which give importance to board exam's marks. A special eligibility test will be arranged for such students to appear for those jobs.
