The State Education Dept of Assam has commenced the distribution of more than 03.22 crore textbooks. These textbooks will be distributed to around 62 lakh students in 09 mediums and 19 languages, as per the official source.

The Education Dept informed that the books have been printed of the same number as the number of students enrolled in last year. The Dept will get the current year's data at the beginning of the new academic session in April, added the officials.

The ceremonial dispatch of free textbooks was inaugurated by the state Education Minister Ranoj Pegu for the 2022-23 academic session. The ceremony was held at ASTPPC (Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corp. Ltd. Minister Pegu flagged off several vehicles carrying textbooks in the presence of the education advisor of the state Nanigopal Mahanta.

A total of 3,22,58,564 textbooks will be delivered across 149 education blocks and 34 districts in Assam.

Pegu informed, "By April 1, the students will get the textbooks". He also added that the govt is devoted to ensuring free education to all govt and provincialized school students.
