Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has set forth an ambitious vision to construct 4,000 state-of-the-art schools in the state by 2028. This visionary initiative is poised to bring about a monumental transformation in the state's educational landscape.

In a recent announcement on social media, Chief Minister Sarma shared the remarkable endeavor, stating, "With the blessings of the Hon'ble PM, Assam is embarking on an unprecedented mission to build schools in the state. Our goal is to complete the construction of 4,000 state-of-the-art schools by 2028, which translates to adding two new schools each day for the next five years. I chaired a meeting today to assess our progress."

The review meeting presided over by the Chief Minister saw the participation of key figures, including Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, registered contractors, impanelled architects, and PWD engineers. The primary agenda was to evaluate the progress in constructing 126 new secondary schools across the state, all of which are being executed under the efficient Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract mode. Importantly, the EPC contract approach will be the cornerstone of the construction of all 4,000 schools.

Minister Pegu emphasized the significance of this approach in a social media post: "The EPC contract method has been adopted to expedite the phased construction of approximately 4,000 secondary schools, marking a pivotal step in realizing this ambitious vision."
