China has virtually sealed off Nanjing city and has also advised the residents to stay indoors after 31 as the new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the past 24 hours. This has taken the total number of COVID infections up to 112 in the current outbreak.
Local health authorities have confirmed that the genetic sequencing of the fast-spreading virus has been identified as the Delta variant.
The Nanjing Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has also informed that the Delta strain has revealed new attributes as compared to the previous related outbreaks. The Delta variant's adaptability has increased and its virus load is also higher. It can also spread faster, has longer treatment time, and is easier to undertake a severe form.
The D-variant was first detected among the airport workers of the city.
This sudden outbreak has set off the testing rounds of citywide nucleic acid testing of 09 million residents of Nanjing and tens of thousands have been put under lockdown.
For now, 05 Chinese provinces and 09 cities have already reported cases pertinent to the Nanjing outbreak.
It's Impacts On Students:
This has caused a serious worry for the Indian students who are in the Country for education and who are preparing to go there. After over 18 months, the education system was slowly getting back on track, but this will cause a new set back and, from the reports, a serious setback.
The situation in India was improving significantly as most of the governments have reopened schools and colleges in their state. This variant is being considered fatal because the researchers and doctors informed that this will harm children most.
And, India will face the effects of this variant too, sooner rather than later, because of the population and negligibility.
The Govt should continue the virtual mode of education for now. The Central Govt should contemplate a partial lockdown to curb the spread. The students and childrens should also be advised to stay at home mostly.
The last year has been hard on everyone, especially students, but we have to fight this situation together to overcome it.
