The University Grants Commission has announced to conduct a common entrance test for admission in Postgraduate courses across 42 central universities from the upcoming academic session.

The Chairperson of UGC Prof M Jagadesh Kumar informed that the entrance test will be two-hour-long and will be conducted in the last week of July. The application process for the CUET PG will be entrenched by the National Testing Agency.

Earlier, only 14 central universities established in 2009 adopted CUET to admit students in PG programmes till the 2021-22 academic session. At present, a total of 42 universities have taken the decision to adopt the CUET, but it has not been made mandatory.

The CUET PG will be a computer-based exam and will be conducted in 02 shifts. The entrance test will also be held in multiple languages.

The application process for the entrance test has started and will continue till June 18.

Kumar also tweeted that the other details for the test will soon be released on the websites of participating central & other universities. The UGC took the decision to expand the CUET to PG programmes as part of the centre's push to implement NEP 2020.
