Delhi Board of School Education and Institut Fran'ais en Inde (IFI-The French Institute in India) has signed a memorandum of understanding to introduce the French language in the government schools of Delhi.



Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia signed the MoU in the presence of the Ambassador of France to India HE Emmanuel Lenain.



Sisodia informed that the initiative has been taken as a part of the government's program to introduce wide-spoken global languages in govt schools. Under this program, the students will now have the opportunity to learn French too as it will surely unlock new career paths for them in various streams.



Deputy CM Sisodiya also said, "Along with enhancing the potential of students, this educational cooperation will also give an opportunity to students to learn about French culture and history. Both the countries have been learning from each other forages in the field of trade, education, art, and culture through various collaborations".



Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain informed that the Delhi and French Governments follow the same philosophy for education. He added, "Among all the collaborations between the two countries, education will always remain our priority. Learning French will be a life-changing experience for the students of Delhi government schools and provide them with new opportunities academically and professionally".



In the pilot phase, the Board will introduce the French Language in 30 affiliated schools. Further expansion of the program will depend on the children's response and interest in learning it.
