The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has launched an initiative to send its teachers abroad for higher education. Through this initiative, the EDMC aims to improve the education quality in civic schools.

The EDMC has also announced to bear the cost of education, including accommodation tuition, and living expenses, notified officials.

EDMC Commissioner Vikas Anand informed that they are sending their teachers to foreign universities to learn different teacher training-related programmes. He further informed that the teachers who are interested in applying for these programmes must inform the education department's training section at the application time. The shortlisted teachers, after being selected by the universities, can apply for sponsorship under the FFT (Funding of Foreign Training) scheme of the EDMC.

Under this scheme, two teachers will be sponsored by the EDMC for training in the first year in an esteemed foreign university.

Presently, there are more than 5,000 educators in EDMC schools.

He further added that a teacher can avail this scheme once in their career. The maximum age limit to apply for the training is 42 years. The teacher must have an impeccable professional record and must have, at least, a 'very good' grade in their service book record of the last 05 years.

This scheme is applicable only to the educators who get admission to the top 100 institutions and universities. The teachers will have the option to choose subjects like special education, public education, the use of digital technology in education, and the development of education in international universities.

Each candidate will be eligible for financial assistance up to Rs.75 lakh.

In case a teacher couldn't complete the foreign degree/ diploma/ doctorate course, the candidate will have to refund/ return the entire amount to the EDMC.
