Free coaching for meritorious students, a scheme launched by the Government of Delhi, will resume soon. The classes had started in March but got disrupted due to the nationwide lockdown caused by the COVID-19.

Mr. Rajendra Pal Gautam, Social Welfare Minister, informed, "Coaching classes under the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana for the current session had started in March. But the pandemic disrupted the classes". There is also a plan to start the classes as early as September.

This year, approx. 15000 seats in around 46 renowned coaching institutions have been restrained under the scheme.

As per the reports, it is hard to conduct online classes due to the bad connectivity in some areas and lack of phones or laptops (in case of disadvantaged people).

Earlier the scheme covered students belonging to the SC category only but last year the govt. expanded the scheme to cover students having family income less than Rs. 08 lakh or students who passed under the national capital. The financial assistance has also been maximized from Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 01 lakh.

Under this scheme, students can profit for the coaching of UPSC, SSC, DSSSB, Banking, RRB, Insurance, Engineering and Medical exams.
