Varsha Gaikwad, Education Minister of Maharashtra state, has announced that the teachers and students who are part of the online education in Maharashtra will get holidays on the occasion of Diwali.

Gaikwad reported that the decision in this regard will be taken soon. She also reported that the authorities have been directed against the conduction of any examination during the festival vacation duration.

The schooling has been shifted to digital mode since March due to the corona pandemic. Gaikwad also notified that CM Uddhav Thackeray along with state advocate general and other authorities is deciding on the decision to reopen the school for class XI students. She reported that the delay in the decision is due to the judicial procedure as the department of education has its focus on the overall development of the students.

She further added that the government will ensure the students' interest in education to upgrade their knowledge.
