On Monday, Union education minister- Dharmendra Pradhan invited Australian universities and skilling institutions to dig into the possibilities of setting up campuses in India and collaborating with their Indian institutions in other areas.

Dharmendra Pradhan posted a tweet that said- we had fruitful discussions on further strengthening our cooperation in skill development, research collaborations, education entrepreneurship, and innovation. I am glad that both India and Australia determine the value of education and innovation to raise the development, prosperity, and growth of our societies.

On Monday, the Union Minister co-chaired the 6th meeting of the Australia-India Education Council (AIEC) with his Australian companion Jason Clare at Western Sydney University (WSU). The education ministry stated that AIEC is a highly effective forum to promote ties and boost engagements in education, skill development, and research priorities. The statement said that the two leaders agreed to establish a working group on transnational education to strengthen institutional collaborations and open new opportunities for partnerships between universities of the two countries.

Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union skill development and entrepreneurship minister, reported that the two countries agreed to boost their cooperation in learning, skilling, and research. He also highlighted the research partnership between the two countries in the domains of Ayurveda, Yoga, Agriculture, etc. Pardhan called for collaboration in skill certification and areas like logistics management, mining, etc. He added that India set up Digital University and Gati Shakti University, for which the two countries can work together to develop curriculum and other factors. Dharmendra Pradhan also underlined the problem of pending visas for Indian students planning to study in Australia.

Earlier this year, the government declared the setting up of campuses of foreign universities in Gandhinagar's GIFT city free from domestic restrictions to facilitate the availability of skilled manpower in financial services. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has constituted a committee to develop the modalities to streamline the process.
