From Next Academic Year, Goa Will Implement 100% NEP

Pramod Sawant, Goa Chief Minister, announced on Sunday that the state government would execute 100 percent of the syllabus in higher education institutes along with the lines of the National Education Policy.



During the seventh Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, the Chief Minister said that Goa is working on the skills of its human resources with the help of agreements signed with several industry associations. He said Goa has started working on the execution of the National Education Policy. As per the reports, the undertaking has already begun in the state-run and aided schools. Chief Minister communicated about sensitizing parents, teachers, and students about the National Education Policy.



Pramod Sawant stated that the implementation of the National Education Policy from college to university level has already commenced. From the next academic year, 100 percent of the syllabus in the higher education institutes will be in line with the NEP. He spoke about the skills of manpower and confirmed that Goa had signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with approximately 35 industry organizations in the state who will work on the skill development. He added that they are preparing for the manpower instructed by the industry in the future and signed agreements with the associations.



Chief Minister mentioned that over the next five years, they need a two lakh workforce in the hospitality industry. The government will further train the workforce. He spoke about agriculture and highlighted the cultivation of paddy and cashew crops. He said they are also urging oil seeds and pulses to be cultivated as a part of crop diversification. He further said that we have a history of importing 100 percent of required horticulture products from other states. But with the Central government encouraging agricultural activity, they are importing only 20 percent of vegetables from other states.
