The Human Resource and Development Ministry has been renamed as Education Ministry as per the New Education Policy approved by the Union Cabinet.

As per the statement released by the Senior HRD Ministry official, "The policy draft has been approved. The Ministry has been renamed as Education Ministry". The former chief of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) K Kasturirangan had submitted the draft of the New Education Policy to HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal last year when he took charge.

The submitted draft was made public for the feedback and the HRD Ministry received more than 02 lakh responses regarding the same.
