IGNOU- The Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched a training programme for more than 10,000 teachers. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Nageshwar Rao, announced this on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. He stated that IGNOU is dedicated to providing quality education at an inexpensive cost to millions of aspiring students in diverse fields.

Rao added that the university is working, intending to achieve the national goals via the launch of new programmes/courses in regional languages as predicted in the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP) to recognize the aim of a 50 percent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2035.

Vice Chancellor reported that from the last year till now, IGNOU initiated over 40 online-based programmes, and the university will now train over 10,000 teachers on the NEP 2020. He also shared that a course- Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, has been introduced by IGNOU which has gotten a positive response from the learners, and around 4,000 students have already enrolled for the course.

On the occasion of Independence Day, an exhibition was organized as part of the celebration at the IGNOU V-C Office. Several activities in the run-up to Independence Day were conducted as a part of the celebrations at IGNOU, including Tiranga Yatra at the IGNOU HQ, the distribution of assistive devices to students with disability, and a booster dose vaccination camp, amongst other activities.
