IIT Kanpur Adds 23 New Examinations Centres For GATE 2023

Today, The Insitute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT) announced new examination centres for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2023). IIT Kanpur has added 23 new towns/cities to make sure that students do not have to travel too far.



With the addition of these new cities, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE 2023 will now be conducted in 219 cities across India. The official press release shared by the institute stated that the decision had been taken keeping in view the amenity of students, especially from the rural belts. As the organizing institute this year, IIT Kanpur aims to reach out to as many students as possible from all the nooks and corners.





Last year, the GATE 2022 exam was conducted across 206 cities. But this year, ten earlier cities have been dropped as those exam centres faced functioning issues. This year, IIT Delhi, Kanpur, Madras, Roorkee, Kharagpur, Bombay, Guwahati, and the Indian Institute of Science (IITSc) Bangalore will jointly conduct the GATE 2023.



The online application portal will be functional on the official website- gate.iitk.ac.in from August 30, and the registration procedure will conclude on September 30. After September 30, candidates can fill out the application form with fees till October 7, 2022. Admit cards for GATE 2023 will be released on the official website- gate.iitk.ac.in on January 3, 2023.



This time, the GATE 2023 exam will be conducted on February 4, 5, 11, and 12. After that, individual responses will be made available on February 15, and on February 21, candidates will have all access to the answer key. Candidates will be given time from February 22 to February 25 to raise objections and challenges concerning the answer key. After considering all the challenges by the candidates, the result will be declared on March 16, and the individual scorecard will be made available to the candidates on March 2022.



The upcoming GATE 2023 exam will be organized in a CBT-Computer Based Test format. It will be a three-hour exam containing different sections- General Aptitude (GA) section and the selected subject(s) section. There will be a total 65 questions- 10 (GA) + 55 (subject). The candidate will get one or two marks for every correct answer and 1-mark for MCQ. 1/3 will be subtracted for every wrong answer, and for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 will be deducted for a wrong answer. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answer(s) to NAT or MSQ questions.
