The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Ropar) is coming up with its first-of-its-kind centre- National Research Centre for Defence Research and Security.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Ropar) and UK-India Business Council (UKIBC) have signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) on the behalf of the Aerospace and Defence Industry Group from the UK.

The MoU between the two parties was signed during the recently concluded DefExpo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

IIT Ropar and UKIBC have decided to establish their relationship formally and, in doing so, offer a framework for additional collaborative activities between the two institutions.

The MoU will authorise collaboration in the innovation and research area, especially in aerospace and defence. It would involve all elements linked with aerospace, land, homeland security, maritime, cybersecurity, space, and any other aspect affecting security in general.

Emphasis will be on developing programmes in line with the resource and interest levels of industry members of the UKIBC (UK-India Business Council) to engage with the IIT Ropar.

The UKIBC will expand invitations to its partner companies to speak at the events by IIT Ropar.
