IIT Tanzania to Become a Hub for Tech Education in Africa, says Dharmendra Pradhan

Today, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that an offshore campus of IIT in Tanzania could be a hub for technology education in Africa.



The Union Minister tweeted India is happy to assist Tanzania with the IIT project. IIT in Tanzania can be a hub for technology education in Africa. I put forward the support needed for the execution of the project & also shared India’s willingness to establish a 21st-century skill centre in Zanzibar.



During his meeting with his Tanzania counterpart, Pradhan also said that India would put forward the support required for the implementation of the project & also shared India’s willingness to establish a 21st-century talent centre in Zanzibar. He also invited African students to Study in India.



In addition to the Tanzania minister, today, the Indian minister met with his partners from Zimbabwe, Mauritius, and Ghana in New Delhi. These ministers are currently in India to observe the UNESCO India Africa Hackathon.



In his meeting with the Mauritius minister, he ensured that India remains committed to working with Mauritius and delivering assistance in building capacities in all fields of education and skill development. He also suggested establishing Mauritius as a knowledge and skills junction of Southeast Asia & Africa.



The Union Minister offered to set up institutional mechanisms and collaborative working groups between India & Ghana from preschool to research for gaining mutual priorities with the Ghana minister.



Pradhan tweeted I proposed setting up institutional mechanisms and cooperative working groups between India and Ghana from pre-school to research for acquiring mutual priorities. HE John expressed his alignment with the concept and approved working together to strengthen academic engagements.
