The National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken steps to streamline the syllabus for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, bringing it in line with the revised curriculum of various school boards, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This move comes as a response to the academic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that the JEE Main assessment remains relevant to students' school education.

The JEE Main serves as the primary examination for gaining admission to centrally funded technical institutions, such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs). The top 20% of students in the merit list qualify for the JEE (Advanced), the entrance exam for the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Online registration for the JEE Main 2024 commenced on the specified date and will remain open until November 30, 2023. In a noteworthy change, the NTA has pre-announced the result date, set for February 12, 2024. Allocation of examination center cities will occur by the second week of January 2024. The computer-based tests are scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 1, 2024.
