In order to promote employability skills among the students, (JEPC) Jharkhand Education Project Council would execute a vocational education program in a total of 576 government schools in the state.
Swapnil Hemant Kujur, Vocational in-charge of JEPC, stated that out of the authorized schools, the program is ongoing in 446 schools, while the process to start the program in the remaining schools is in progress. They aim to execute the scheme in 50% of the senior secondary schools by 2025-26 and all secondary and senior secondary schools by 2030.
As a crucial part of the program, which was established on a pilot basis in July, an internship program has been started for more than 3,000 students of class 11th and class 12th. The program has laid the foundations in various organizations, such as micro-small and medium enterprises, service centers, common service centers, hospitals, local shops, retail centers, and within-the-block education offices to help the children understand the functioning of the workplace. Students will not only understand how the workplace functions but acquire knowledge of employability skills as well.
The main objective of the vocational courses is learning by doing, and it offers 70 percent weightage to the practical and the rest of 30 percent to theory. However, the students of class 9th and 10th will be attending guest lectures and take active participation in industry visits for exposure to various trades. Also, Jharkhand Education Project Council is organizing a roadmap for pre-vocational courses for students of Classes 7th and 8th.
