The DCTE (Department of Collegiate and Technical Education), Karnataka has signed an MoU with IT major Infosys to transform the ways of technical learning in higher education.
The DCTE has signed the Memorandum of Understanding under its "Help Educate" initiative in presence of state Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana.
Minister Narayana informed that the MoU will benefit around 05 lakh students and educators belonging to higher education. The aim of the collaboration is to facilitate blended learning and industry readiness of learners according to the aspirations of the National Education Policy 2020, he added.
According to this MoU, Infosys will also collaborate with the DCTE to train the faculty/ educators on a regular basis. The company will commence the training of 200 teachers at the Mysuru Infosys campus soon.
Narayana also explained that the collaboration includes 03 components to provide access to Infosys Springboard which has over 1.6 Lakh learning resources and 4,900 courses, Faculty Development Program, and assisting the government in establishing digital infrastructure through donation of 15,000 debonded computers.
Infosys Springboard is a digital platform and has been developed to enable one to acquire multiple digital skills and life skills. The platform comprises of gamification, virtual labs, and other interesting features and also provides access to industry experts. Around 1.6 lakh learning resources have been incorporated in this includes videos, audios, animations, etc.
Narayana also informed that the donation of 15,000 De-bonded computers will cover the computers' shortage in Government Polytechnic, Diploma, and Engineering colleges across the state.
