The Kerala Govt has taken the decision to grant scholarships to SC/ ST students for pilot training. The State Govt will bear the entire expenditure of the students who qualify the state-run Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy's entrance examination.
The Academy provides the training for the CPL (Commercial Pilot License).
The state govt has issued a new directive stating that the govt will fund the entire cost of the training i.e. around Rs. 2.5 million for each student.
K. Radhakrishnan, the State Minister for SC/ ST, announced the news after meeting five students (03 boys and 02 girls) from the SC (Scheduled Caste) community who got admission in the academy, this year.
Henceforward, all students who are interested and secure admission will be able to study free of cost, he added.
Radhakrishnan advised all the five students to keep inspiring their community. He also said that the new generation of the community will be benefitting from this scheme.
Earlier, the scholarship scheme covered only one or two cadets, but now, the benefits will be provided to all the students.
The five students who have secured admissions are Sankeerthana from Kannur, Sharnya from Wayanad, Vishnu Prasad from Kozhikode, Adithyan from Alappuzha, and Rahul from Thiruvananthapuram.
