The UT administration of Ladakh has taken the decision to grant financial support to meritorious students to avail coaching facilities. The assistance will be provided for JEE & NEET examinations under 'Rewa- Lt Governor's Student Support Initiative' scheme, notified an official spokesman.

The assistance will be provided for examinations conducted on or after Oct 1, 2021.

A total of 70 students from Ladakh will be selected on the basis of their marks in Class 12 exams whereas 60 students will be selected from Class 10 board exams. The merit list will be prepared separately for Class 10 and Class 12.

The meritorious students who wish to appear in JEE, NEET, UG CLAT, and NDA exams will be granted the financial aid of Rs. 01 lakh. It will include coaching fee's reimbursement up to Rs. 01 lakh for residential coaching institutions or coaching fee's reimbursement up to Rs. 64,000 for day boarding or correspondence programmes. It will also include Rs. 36,000 for boarding and lodging expenditure at the rate of Rs. 3,000/ month for the aspirants availing coaching outside Ladakh.

The Ladakh students who qualify the preliminary examination of Civil Services, Indian Engineering Services, and Indian Forest Service will be granted up to Rs. 1.54 lakh as financial aid. It will include coaching fee's reimbursement up to Rs. 01 lakh and boarding and lodging expenditure up to Rs. 54,000 at the rate of Rs. 3,000/ month for up to 18 months for the aspirants availing coaching outside Ladakh.

The applications will soon be invited by the administration after the declaration of the results. The candidates will have to apply online along with the result sheet and supporting documents.
