On Monday, Patil Chandrakant, Maharasthra Minister, stated the state Maharashtra Government would cover the expenses of higher education for college students who unfortunately lost their both parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative by the Maharashtra government aims to support the students who lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative would help students continue their higher education and follow their dreams without any financial tension.
The state higher and technical education minister made an announcement on the floor of the state Assembly in response to a question asked by Congress legislator Shrish Chaudhary.
Maharashtra Minister Patil Chandrakant reported that as many as 938 postgraduate and 228 postgraduate students belonging to various government colleges have lost both their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the Maharashtra government would pay their college fees for the entire course.
The minister further reported that the decision would cost the state exchequer more than Rs 2 crore annually, and there would be no requirement for the state government to pass a parallel decision every year. Thus, this means that the state government won't need to make a judgment similar to it every year.
