The Maharashtra Disaster Management Minister Vijay Wadettiwar has announced plans to train OBC students for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams.

The Govt will be providing training to 1000 OBC students for UPSC and 2000 students for MPSC exams

The Minister informed that discussions are ongoing with aviation companies as well to impart pilot training each year to 25 students.

He added that the fund of Rs. 150 Crore has been sanctioned for Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (Mahajyoti), out of which Rs. 40 Crore has already been disbursed.

Under Mahajyoti, 2,000 OBC students will be trained for the MPSC exam and 1,000 for UPSC exams, added Wadettiwar.

Under the project to train 25 candidates as commercial pilots, 67% will be from the OBC category and 33% from the VJNT class, he informed.

Talking about the appointment of MPSC board members, Wadettiwar said that other communities should also be given preference while appointing members, and the issue will be taken up with the chief minister.

A separate commission will be set up to gather the required data in court for political reservation of OBCs, he added.
